Description: Black Pepper or Piper Nigrum is considered as Queen of spices in the culinary art throughout the world. Black Pepper is crushed and brought to us in the form of pepper powder. Fine ground, highly aromatic, Allepey pepper is acclaimed for its superb flavor and bite. Worldwide it is used as food Presevative and as seasoning agent, for dressing the dishes, but it have lots of medicinal values. It's a warming spice. It is one of the oldest and important spices in the world. So important, that in ancient times it was used as currency and as standard exchangable Item as gold in foreign trade. India holds supreme position in the production of pepper. These 'bold' berried peppers are sourced from the erstwhile shipping port 'Allepey' - a Southern district of Kerala. Two of its celebrated varieties are 'Malabar Garbled' and 'Tellichery Extra bold'. The finest Indian pepper is grown in the monsoon forests of the Malabar Coast in Kerala.
Uses: Pepper is extensively used in the wintry cosines of North India, to impart warmth and pungency to vegetarian dishes. It is also used as preservatives for meat and other perishable food items and to correct the seasoning of dishes. In the South, it is used as a flavoring spice in non-vegetarian preparations. The Aryans considered it as a powerful remedy and prescribed it as an effective cure for Dyspepsia, Malaria, Delirium and Tremors. It is used as Insect Repellant and killer. Pepper corns boiled in water along with basil leaves are said to relieve chest congestions and asthmatic condition. Decoction of Blend of Pepper Berries with Basil Leaves is considered to be a effective Bronchodiallator, to remove the symptoms of chest congestion, asthama, bronchititis and common cold.
